What is a JagCast?
JagCast is a free tool to connect the
MAUE community with the latest news and information at our
school. Using RSS and PodCasting technologies, MAUE can
broadcast video, weather, and audio feeds to a web browser,
iPod, website or a variety of other readers. Subscribers
use a "Feed Reader" to see the latest updates, without having to
check the website every day.
Why Subscribe?
JagCasts are designed to give MAUE a tool to inform parents
without requiring a regular visit to the MAUE website.
When new items become available, the Feed
Reader (Internet Explorer, Google Reader, etc) will
inform the user.
What is RSS?
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" -- it
is used to distribute content including video, audio, newspapers, magazines, and blogs.
Web publishers use RSS to easily create and distribute news
feeds that include links, headlines, and summaries.
MAUE uses RSS to distribute our morning
broadcast, current articles or announcements on our web site,
the PTO newsletter, the lunch menu and more.
How to View?
All you need is a "Feed Reader", and you probably already have
one.
Internet Explorer 7.0 has a built-in tool to
allow viewing of Feeds. Simply click the
link or the
icon in any compatible web site and
the feed will appear. To add this to your monitored feeds,
simply click "Subscribe to this Feed".
