Physical Education
Physical Education is an integral part of the education process at MAUE.  Students attend P.E. twice a week.  Activities may include climbing our rock wall, physical fitness and exercise, honing soccer and volleyball skills and more.  We desire to teach fitness along with sportsmanship and develop well-rounded students prepared for Middle School.

Pathways
The Pathways program is designed to meet the special needs of intellectually gifted children. The goals of the program include the following:

  • To provide students with those activities which emphasize the process of learning rather than the content; divergent thinking rather than convergent; exploration of ideas through creative problem solving; and reasoning skills.
  • To provide the students with a diversity of learning experiences, including instructional methods, materials, and activities.
  • To provide opportunities for the students to grow in their understanding of themselves and others.

Students are identified for Pathways by a prescribed screening process. Students attend the Pathways program for five hours per week.

Science

Science Lab - All students at MAUE participate in a 45-minute once a week science lab.  The purpose of the lab is to teach higher level thinking skills and provide hands-on experiences that support our regular curriculum.

Outdoor Classroom - The outdoor classroom is a beautiful outdoor setting in which students can relate to the environment.  It provides a place to incorporate other subject areas that are influenced by nature.

Music
General Music Education broadens the minds of our students and gives them another way to explore and enhance their critical and creative thinking skills.  We encourage music listening, movement, theory, singing, playing and composing.  We also present music history and music appreciation.  Teaching these areas exposes each student to the rich diversity of the music of our region, our country and our world.

Counselor
The counselor's goal is to help our children continue to be kids of good character.  Feel free to call our counselor at any time!
